On 12 August 2026, La Tejera de Fausto will sit inside the path of totality of a total solar eclipse. From 19:30, for nearly two hours, you will witness a phenomenon that transforms the landscape: the light will shift, the temperature will drop, and at 20:31, for 80 seconds of absolute totality, daylight will vanish completely.
It's not something you simply see — it's a full sensory experience you remember for the rest of your life.
We propose a three-day stay so you can experience the eclipse without rushing, exploring the area at your own pace. La Tejera is your base — a quiet place from which to discover Pedraza, medieval villages, cycling routes, or simply enjoy the rural setting.
The Eclipse Experience
A Fully Immersive Experience
At La Tejera de Fausto you'll be far from any urban centre, with no light pollution and no interference. As the light begins to fade, the landscape doesn't compete with the sky. Here there is no city, no noise, no distraction.
But one detail matters: the Sun will sit very low on the west-northwest horizon. That's why we suggest a fully immersive experience — go out and meet it. A few minutes' walk through the fields will take you to a vantage point where the horizon opens up completely, so your immersion in the eclipse is total, deep in nature.
You can join us at the chosen viewing point, where we plan to enjoy the eclipse, the last of the daylight and a bit of the night out in nature. We'll set up an area where, once totality has passed, we'll share a generous picnic dinner and wait for the night sky and its meteor shower. If you'd rather, you can also head out on your own — your kit and picnic will be ready for you all the same.

From first contact
to total darkness.
The eclipse is more than the minute of totality. The experience begins long before, when the Moon takes its first "bite" out of the Sun, and unfolds across nearly two hours of progressive change that reshapes the world around you.
19:30 · First contact
The Moon begins its passage across the face of the Sun. With your certified glasses, you'll watch the solar disc start to disappear. Barely perceptible to the naked eye, it's the beginning of something extraordinary.
20:00 · The light shifts
The light turns cooler and more silvery. The temperature drops. Shadows sharpen. Colours in the landscape desaturate. A strange hush settles over the fields.
20:31 · Totality
Darkness. The solar corona glows around the Moon's black disc. Venus shines brilliantly overhead. For 80 seconds, time stands still. It isn't just something you see — you feel it through your whole body.

When should I wear the eclipse glasses?+
Throughout every partial phase. Only during full totality — when no bright part of the Sun's disc remains visible — is it safe to take them off.
What time does the eclipse actually start?+
First contact is at 19:30. We recommend being settled in by 19:00 so you don't miss any phase. Totality begins at 20:31 and lasts roughly 80 seconds.
Can I watch the eclipse from the garden?+
There are several spots on the property with a view, but we recommend walking a few minutes to a nearby vantage point with a fully open horizon, out in nature. You can join us at the chosen spot, where we plan to enjoy what remains of the day and a bit of the night out in the open.
